Hello everyone,
Marking of the mid-semester exam is now complete. A summary of the results are as follows:
Average mark: 44%
Maximum: 89.5%
Minimum: 10%
34% of the class achieved a result of 50% or better.
XXXXXXX (略去内容,下同). Unfortunately, people continue to make the same mistakes I tried to warn about - e.g., using rote learning instead of thinking. Also areas like XXXXXX clearly need to be studied in more depth.
Your papers will be available for you to review in this week's tutorial - the papers are the University's property so you will not be able to keep the answer booklets or the question papers. All materials must be returned to the tutor. I note that a number of you have chosen to move tutorials without permission - papers will only be available in your allocated tutorial as shown on Access Adelaide. You should attend your correct tutorial if you want feedback.
Please do not contact the staff for individual marks - this is simply impossible to administer and you will get your mark during your tutorial. In addition, staff are not permitted to send marks by e-mail or over the telephone.
Any requests for a reassessment of mid-semester exam results must be made on the basis of a specific error identified in the marking. Requests based on a mere desire for more marks or other non-specific reasons will not be accepted.
Although I am again disappointed with the results for the mid-semester exam, they are not unexpected which is the reason the mid-semester exam is held - better to get the bad news out of the way now than at the end of the course when it will have the greatest impact on results. XXXXXXXXXXXX.
It is most important that you take this opportunity to reflect upon how you study, how you apply the knowledge you receive from your studies, and what skills and abilities you will actually need in the 'real world'. XXXXXXXXX.
For many I would recommend the need to seriously reassess whether remaining silent in tutorials is an effective way of passing this course. In addition, few people seemed to be prepared to take advantage of staff consultation times. We can only help you if you are prepared to engage with us and your fellow students.
XXX
